String
Theory
There is consensus that matter, at its crudest form, is fundamentally composed of particles. However, physicists have recently advanced the hypothesis that matter is ultimately composed of small strings, vibrating strings. This paradigm would solve a problem that has haunted physicists for the past few decades, that of uniting the theory of general relativity and quantum theory. That is to produce a theory of quantum gravity, a theory without which we cannot fully understand black holes: the Big Bang Theory.
